As a result of writing the first edition of her book, Carol was able to find and meet family members on her birth father’s side. She writes of this experience and about the man her birth father was. She includes new photos and genograms, and she blends insights from adoption literature and from her own adoption work into the book. The book concludes with a letter of gratitude to her adoptive father who died as Carol was approaching adulthood.
By being able to write about her birth father, Carol has a sense of completion about her life story.
Carol’s former adoption colleague, Linda Corsini, writes: “Your book is a much-needed resource concerning the often missing perspective of birth fathers. I believe it will be a genuine contribution to our adoption literature base. The voice of birth fathers is often not heard—hopefully the new edition of your book will close that gap!”
